Love is in the air this month and you may be finding yourself wanting to spice up your basic date nights. These may not be revolutionary date night ideas, but they might be just different enough to spark new excitement in your daily routine.
take a hike
I’ve found that unless you are a hiker or someone who grew up in a place where hiking is a regular activity, most people have not been. So if you need to do a mini road trip to get to your closest mountain, pack a picnic and make a playlist for the drive and just do it!
Hiking with your partner is a fun way to spend time outside together and appreciate nature. Don’t have any mountains near you? Try a nature walking path or a park you haven’t been to yet.
Spa/DIY Spa
Have you and your partner ever done a spa day together? Sometimes I think we classify these kinds of days as individual activities, but doing them with your partner can be a great way to relax together!
Going to a spa for the day can feel luxurious and out of your budget. Try searching for a deal through Groupon! They usually have coupons for different deals. If you can’t find something within your budget then try doing a DIY version.

Visit a Botanical Garden
Spend time walking in a beautiful garden together for a romantic day date. Check out the various flowers from all over the world while holding hands, and strolling along paths of blossoming arrangements.
Dates don’t only have to be at night! Get brunch/breakfast and spend your afternoon in the garden together all while being home before six.
Have a Fancy stay-at-home Date Night
Staying in for date night does not have to mean you sit in your pjs and watch your regular programming while eating frozen pizza. This stay-at-home date night is a fancy edition! Put candles out, decorate as if you’re having a dinner party, put makeup on, do your hair, and pick out a cute outfit.
Make a nice dinner together or order something fancy…don’t forget dessert! If you’re into drinking, try ordering a cocktail box from Shaker and Spoon to have a delicious easy fancy DIY cocktail you can make together!
Get Away
Get a hotel for the night, ask for early check-in, and make the most of your 48-hour “get away”. You may think to get away you need to plan a whole vacation on a different continent but that’s not always true. Getting away for one night can just be about acknowledging how hard you both work and taking a pause from your ordinary responsibilities to focus on each other.
Let go and just have fun. Try a new type of food, explore a new park, go window shopping, and focus on the present.
Take a Cooking Class Together
Whether you’re a professional chef or can barely boil pasta, cooking with your partner is an exciting date. It’s just a fun thing to do together, not about your capabilities! You can do an at-home version of this by following a YouTube video and going grocery shopping beforehand together.
However, if possible try doing this in person! Look up local cooking classes offered around you. It will add to the experience of being in a professional kitchen setting and using fancy equipment. If you’re in NY and looking for a spot you can try Sur la Table on the upper west side.

Mini Golf, Bowling, Movies, Karaoke, Arcade, Rock Climbing, Trivia Night at a Bar, Museum…
Okie I know I just listed a bunch of different activities, but I did so because sometimes the most cliche, obvious ideas are the ones we forget about…or never actually do! Just because these are not unique does not mean they are not still fun. Maybe you have done these activities 100 times, but haven’t done them together! Anything that you two can do together, that is out of your regular day-to-day schedule can be a fun date night.
